2nd Writing Harrison St Coffee

The Harrison St Coffee art show was very different in a good way. Very little do i walk into a show and like a majority of the work. Looking over peoples shoulders in order to look at some of the pieces was little awkward but I am sure the coffee shop customers understood. For granted I could tell which pieces were done by professionals and which pieces were done by people that were still going school or were not all for it. But the overall the majority of the works were pretty impressive. I liked that it was mixture of work not all fine art it made appealing and not boring at all. For some reason the First piece that comes to mind is the one that was of a cat in black and white. Usually pet photos are pretty dull and boring because you have seen so many but that one was very beautiful and appealing. I could see every detail of the cats face each strand of hair it was very crisp and beautiful.

I think my favorite artist at the show was Jason Collins. I think he was that guy that came to our class and talked. His style of photography reminds me of the photography I did dominantly in high school. It is funny I go to a fine art photography school when that is not the kind of photography i want to do after college. I do not know what kind of lenses he uses in his shots nor can I remember what camera he uses but his pictures are great for music photography. For some reason looking at work of people that did go to school for there passion appeals to me the most. In some of the pictures I wonder if he put lights up on the stage to get a different affect or if the bands brought the lights themselves. I know from experience taking pictures at concerts or more specifally shows can usually have bad or dark lighting. I cannot tell in any of his photos that the places might have been dark or poorly lit. He has great photography skills for never going to school. I hope someday it pays him enough to were he does not have to have any other jobs.

Out of all of his pieces on his sight the one that strikes me the most is from the live bands section is Sparks the Rescue at Ally cats photo. Which was on his main page. I like how there is a red glow behind the guy and main source is light is from the front. I like the deatil of the hair and arrangement of the shadowing. I find it a very appealing photo.
